THE LAUNCH OF THE EAST AFRICA AFCFTA REPORT

NPCK participated in the launch of the Africa Continent Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) report of East Africa on 5th March 2020 in Nairobi. AfCFTA is a member state agreement which seeks to facilitate farmers’ access to rapidly growing markets both within the East African region and across Africa. It was formed in March 2018 at an Extraordinary Summit of the Africa Union in Kigali where 44 member states signed up to it.

The Eastern Africa AfCFTA report highlighted the issues at stake by identifying areas where governments and the private sector need to focus their energies. It was officially launched by Hon. Adan Mohamed, CS East Africa Community.

The report was compiled and presented by Trademark East Africa. The event was attended by delegations from across East Africa including the Private sector members and government ministries representatives. It is expected the region works toward implementation of its recommendations.
