As NPCK continues to expand its mandate and deepen engagement across the potato value chain, the need for a well-aligned, resilient, and high-performing team remains critical. In this context, NPCK recently convened a structured team-building session aimed at strengthening internal capacity and enhancing cross-departmental collaboration.
The session was deliberately designed as a capacity-strengthening intervention, focusing on improving communication, clarifying roles, and reinforcing shared responsibility across departments. As NPCK’s work increasingly requires coordinated action between technical, partnerships, communications, and monitoring functions, internal alignment is not optional — it is a prerequisite for effective service delivery.
Beyond alignment, the engagement recognized staff well-being as a productivity enabler. High-performing institutions are built on teams that are not only technically competent but also mentally resilient and motivated. The team-building activities provided space for reflection, reset, and constructive engagement, enabling staff to reconnect with NPCK’s mission and with one another outside routine operational pressures.
A key outcome of the session was strengthened cross-departmental collaboration. Through guided interactions and problem-solving exercises, staff identified practical ways to break silos, improve coordination, and support each other’s work more effectively. This collaborative approach directly supports NPCK’s ability to deliver timely, integrated, and high-impact services to farmers, partners, and stakeholders across the potato sector.

As NPCK moves forward, the insights and alignment generated through this engagement will translate into improved internal efficiency, stronger teamwork, and enhanced institutional performance — ultimately reinforcing the Council’s role as a trusted coordinator and advocate for Kenya’s potato industry.
