STANDARD CHARTERED NAIROBI MARATHON 2021

The Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon 18th edition was held from 25th – 31st of October 2021. The initiative aims to raise funds for the needy in the community, that is, the “Seeing is Believing” initiative, to tackle inequality and increase economic inclusion for the younger generation.

In line with this, NPCK and its partners has been organizing and participating together in the Annual Standard Chartered Marathon over the years.

Due to Covid-19 crisis, the 2021 marathon was conducted and categorized into two, physical and virtual participation. The physical run was limited to only 2,500 local and international elite athletes, whereas, individuals and organizations ran alongside Africa’s finest athletes through the virtual marathon. The race categories were: 5km Family Fun Run, 10km, half marathon and full marathon races.

On 31st October 2021, NPCK, CIP, Sereni Fries, Agrico, AIN, Farm Kenya, Jancota and friends of potato, participated in the marathon as the Potato Team 2021. The team joined CIP in their 50 years anniversary celebration where Dinah Borus, Senior Research Associate, shared on what CIP has achieved and its contribution to the potato sub-sector in Africa.

During the run, the team got a chance to interact and make memories together in their various race categories. The team was composed of 52 participants who enjoyed the run in the tranquil environment of Karura Forest. CIP and Sereni fries are highly appreciated for sponsoring the event.
