NPCK in collaboration with Viazi Kings Limited distributed the seeds to farmers for the short rain season August to October. The bags ordered through Viazisoko digital platform were more than 12,000 certified seeds and distribution is ongoing. The farmers expressed joy in receiving the potato seeds which are becoming difficult to source.  Potatoes is the second most important crop after maize and the demand has been expanding overtime. Farmers need certified seeds to increase yield. The seeds booked through Viazisoko this season are Unica, Sherekea, Dutch Robjin and Shangi. NPCK is ensuring that the farmers are receiving the seeds on time for timely planting. The platform has also helped the farmers place orders of other farm inputs like fertilizers and agrochemicals which are delivered for free to the farmer’s most preferred dropping points. The Viazisoko platform offers other services like soil testing, farm mechanization, and spraying program which help the farmer increase potato yield and improve soil fertility.
