Different Partners setting up their demonstration plots in Nyandarua County, Olkalau subcounty.
After the success achieved during the March-August county potato demonstrations, NPCK together with thirteen partners have teamed up again to enhance capacity building of farmers by conducting another phase of field demonstrations in six counties namely: Nyandarua, Meru, Nakuru, Narok, Bomet and Elgeyo Marakwet Counties. The planting of demonstration plots started on 16th October in Nyandarua and was completed on 26th October in Elgeyo Marakwet. Earthing and topdressing will be carried out in the second half of November.
The demos are expected to act as a tool for technology transfer, information dissemination and adoption among farmers in the following areas: Seed selection, Soil testing, Fertilizer and other potato nutrients use, Agrochemicals, Spray Service Provision, Mechanization services and good agricultural practices. More farmers are expected to receive the training in the second phase.
