NYERI COUNTY GOVERNMENT, ASDSP, KCSAP AND NPCK CREATE PARTNERSHIP FOR TRANSFROMING POTATO SUBSECTOR IN THE COUNTY

The County Government of Nyeri, Kenya Climate Smart Agricultural Programme, (KCSAP), Agricultural Sector Development Support Programme (ASDSP) and NPCK held a meeting on 27th January 2020 at the county agricultural offices to discuss areas of partnerships and collaborations in the potato value chain. Each of the partners highlighted their activities in the county and gaps were identified where the rest would plug in so as to complement each other. Areas of common interest where the partners will work together were identified and include farmer capacity building programs, youth training on seed potato production, development of the county potato strategy as well as implementation of the 2019 Potato Regulations. These collaborations are necessary so as to avoid duplication of potato initiatives in the county as well as create synergy among the partners involved.
