Monitoring Of Potato Farmers Progress In Kipipiri, Nyandarua

NPCK continues to empower potato farmers in all the major potato producing counties in Kenya. One of the ways it accomplishes this is through regular field visits to monitor farmers’ accessibility to the recommended farm inputs. In June, 2021 the council visited Mwangaza Farmer Field and Business School (FFBS) in Kipipiri, Nyandarua County where about 25 registered farmers were trained on Viazi Soko digital platform to assist them access quality farm inputs (Certified seeds, Fertilizer and Agrochemicals) as well as extension services.

Through the platform, NPCK is also creating business opportunities for Youths in the form of Farm Service Providers (FSPs). FSPs are individuals who provide professional farm services to farmers such as spraying services, scouting of pests and diseases, support soil testing through sampling and analysis. To maximize the business opportunities, FSPs will be helping in farmer registration onto the platform. Youth members of Mwangaza FFBS will be trained in becoming FSPs to enable potato farmers within this locality get access to quality services.
