FARMERS AND BUYERS ACROSS COUNTIES SENSITIZED ON POTATO POLICIES AND REGULATIONS

The Crops (Irish Potato) Regulations 2019 were developed and gazetted to help in providing quality assurance and creating standards in the entire potato value chain. Sensitization, implementation and enforcements have been ongoing at the county and national levels by different players within the value chain.

In the month of August, the Kenya Cereal Enhancement Programme (KCEP), Warehouse Receipt System Council (WRSC), and NPCK sensitized representatives from the departments of agriculture in Nandi, Nakuru, Bungoma, and Trans Nzoia county governments, farmer cooperatives, and traders on policies and regulations.

The trainings were conducted in each of the aforementioned counties. The aim of the trainings was to sensitize farmers and buyers of the policies, regulations, and strategies affecting production and marketing of potatoes and their benefit to all stakeholders.
