Participants during the virtual stakeholders’ validation forum for the Draft National Potato Strategy (2021-2025)
The process of developing an updated National Potato Strategy (2021-2025) has been on-going under the coordination of NPCK. In December last year, stakeholders converged virtually to validate, comment and enrich the draft developed by the technical team. Participants in the forum included representatives from AFA, UoN, JKUAT, KALRO, KEPHIS, MoALF&C, potato producing counties, seed producers, and NPCK. The technical team met later to deliberate on the comments received. The end result was an enriched draft national potato strategy which will go a long way in transforming the potato sub-sector in the country by giving a clear road map on how to address the subsector challenges and constraints as well as taking advantage of new opportunities. It will also be crucial to counties as they will customize it during development of their own strategies
