Part of the County governments mandate is to implement government policies including agricultural policies. With the recent restrictions of movement due to the COVID-19 pandemic, county governments through the Council of Governors (COG) chairman issued a statement on their preparedness. Among the measures the county governments come up with is to waive cess on foodstuff on transit including potatoes.
This is important to help in ensuring continuity in transportation to markets and access by consumers at affordable prices.
However, this message needed to fully reach the implementers on the ground since some counties continued charging cess.
