COMESA-EAC Horticulture Accelerator (CEHA) was created in 2022 by public and private sector partners to better coordinate policy, value chain development programs, financing, and Research and Development (R&D) of the horticulture industry. CEHA aims to speed up the growth of the Fruit and Vegetable (F&V) sub-sector in the COMESA and EAC regions. The countries of focus are Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda. NPCK is the Coordinator in Kenya. CEHA Strategy was endorsed during a Partner’s Engagement Meeting organized by the Alliance for Commodity Trade in Eastern and Southern Africa (ACTESA), A Specialized Agency of COMESA, in Lusaka, Zambia. The Regional Strategic Plan (2025-2035) was validated by the CEHA National Chapters, Governmental Officials, and Implementing Alliance.

The following were endorsed and validated; progress and achievements of CEHA initiatives over the past year, CEHA National Chapter launched and intervention to be undertaken onwards in 2025; CEHA Board Members, Development Partners, and Donors’ commitment to the regional CEHA Strategic plan was firmed up; Donor commitment to fund the regional CEHA Strategic plan 2025-2035 was officially obtained; CEHA Matching Grants Facility Implementation and Award Modality (CEHA MG FIAM) was endorsed;CEHA Regional Technical Strategies, namely Gender, Youth, Climate Change; Regional Cluster, Value Chains, Marketing, Information Systems, and Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning were presented and officially endorsed
