NPCK in collaboration with key partners in the Potato subsector under the umbrella of Potato Training Committee successfully developed a Potato Production Handbook in 2019. However, the ongoing drastic climatic changes necessitated the need to review the handbook with a goal of accommodating Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) technologies and practices for Kenyan farmers and agri-entrepreneurs who wish to engage in production of potatoes.
This review was done by NPCK in partnership with SNV-Climate Resilient Agribusiness for Tomorrow (CRAFT) Project. This has led to the development of a revised version called Climate Resilient Potato Production (CRPP) Handbook: A Guide for Farmers and Trainers which is in the final draft stage.
The stakeholder validation workshop for the CRPP handbook was held on 31st January 2020 in Nairobi. The inputs and recommendations that were put forward will be integrated and the final document shared with stakeholders. The stakeholders present during the workshop were drawn from National and County Governments, Development partners, processors, input providers, seed producers, farmers and CSA Experts.
