Through the Reclaim Sustainability Project supported by Solidaridad and Kenya Sustainable Potato Initiative (KSPI) project supported by AGRA, NPCK in collaboration with the County government of Meru conducted a capacity enhancement workshop for the Meru Tamu Potato Cooperative on 27th, 28th, and 29th August 2024, at Kirua, Meru County. The main objective was to support the cooperative develop a strategic plan for 2024-2028, sensitize about the ViaziSoko platform, and create awareness on Crops Irish potato regulations 2019.
Outcomes of the training include; cooperative officials being able to understand the importance of strategic plan and development process (a draft zero strategic plan was developed for Meru Tamu potato cooperative 2024-2028), The cooperative leant more about Viazisoko, how to do seed booking and order, other input acquisition steps, farmer extension queries among others finally the cooperative saw the relevance of adopting and implementing Crops Irish potato regulations. In attendance were representatives from Solidaridad, NPCK and the County Department of Economic Planning, Kiirua administration, AGRA, FtMA, CGA, and cooperative officials.
