NYANDARUA POTATO FARMERS FIELD DAY

The Potato Value Chain Capacity Building (PCB) Project which is being implemented by IFDC and other partners in Nyandarua County targets to increase revenue for 3,000 smallholder farmers through training on good agricultural practices, facilitating access to affordable certified potato seed and increasing market knowledge and access. As part of implementation process, IFDC in partnership with County Government of Nyandarua and other actors in the potato value chain organized for farmer’s field day which took place on 25th October 2019 in Gathiriga Ward, Kipipiri Sub-county. The field day focused on training of farmers on good agricultural practices, awareness creation of new potato varieties, and showcasing of new technologies in potato value chain. The event brought together smallholder farmers, exhibitors, and project partners such as, KEPHIS, NPCK, IPM Potato Group and County Government. The event was graced by Amb. Fionnuala Quinlan, the Ambassador of Ireland and was hosted by H.E. Francis Kimemia Governor, Nyandarua County who was represented by Dr. James Karitu, the CECM Agriculture, Livestock & Fisheries.
