Nandi County Farmers Benefit from NPCK Field Days organized by NAVCDP, Crop Insurance Training, and Demonstrations establishment (baby demo) and regional potato trade fair

Nandi County—The National Agricultural Value Chain Development Project (NAVCDP) has continued to roll out impactful farmer-support activities across the county on the five priority value chains potato value chain being among the five , with and aim of strengthening agricultural productivity and resilience.
Farmers Field Days organized by NAVCDP on the five priority value chains in Nandi county being dairy, coffee, poulty, avocado and potato were successfully held in Koyo/Ndurio, Ollessos, and Lelmokwo/Ngechek wards, bringing together hundreds of farmers and stakeholders among being NPCK and others within the county for farmers to learn about improved technologies (RACs), good agronomic practices, use of certified seeds and climate-smart solutions.


In addition, ACRE Africa conducted comprehensive training sessions on crop insurance in both Mosop and Nandi Hills sub-counties. The training equipped village champions and NPCK VBAs with essential knowledge on weather-index insurance products, risk management, and how to protect their investments from climate shocks.
NPCK demonstration plots established at Baraton university for the upcoming regional potato trade fair. These plots highlight best practices in planting, crop nutrition, and technology showcasing by different organization on the potato value chain, where the exhibitors will able to interact one on one with the farmers on their services and products they have.
Baby demonstration plots have been initiated in Kurgung/Surungai, Kemeloi/Maraba, Kosirai, and Kilibwoni wards, providing localized learning centers for farmers to observe and apply improved production practices. Soil health and nutrition being the vocal theme and use of certified seeds with its importance.
Furthermore, the selection of Village-Based Advisors (VBAs) is ongoing across multiple wards. Once trained, these VBAs will support last-mile extension delivery and strengthen farmer learning networks.
