The Standard Chartered Marathon is an annual event that aims at raising funds for various community initiatives. The 2019 Standard Chartered Marathon aimed at among other things, tackling inequality and increasing economic inclusion of young people across markets, helping the next generation learn, earn and grow under the theme “future makers”. As tradition, NPCK and partners under the “Potato Team” took part in this year’s Marathon held on 27th October, 2019. This is the third time the potato team is taking part in this annual event. The team comprised of NPCK, Sereni Fries, Kevian Kenya Ltd, Norda Industries and friends of NPCK. Besides the main objective of the Marathon, “Potato Team” came together to promote potato as the second most important food and cash crop, and its role in the big 4 agenda under the theme “Promoting potato for food security and Agribusiness”. The team had participants in the 5 Km (family fun), 10 Km and 21 Km races who all gracefully completed their races despite the chilly weather. After the race, the team had a bonding where they shared their experirnce while having their lunch. Each participant was awarded a gift hamper courtesy of Norda and Kevian.
Awards for the best in all categories in the potato team shall be handed over once the Standard Chartered certificates are out. The awards will be provided by Kevian Kenya Ltd .NPCK highly appreciates the partners who joined the 2019 Potato Team and looks forward to having more partners on board during the 2020 race.
