Corteva Agriscience representative training farmers on pesticide products use in potato farming today in in Nyeri County, Kieni East.
NPCK together with its partners conducted a farmer training in Nyandarua County, Olkalau on 20th August 2020 with the goal of showcasing different technologies in potato production. The partners involved included Agrico East Africa, Corteva Agriscience, Yara East Africa Fertilizer and International Fertilizer Development Centre (IFDC). Farmers were trained on recommended practices such as; soil testing services, apical cuttings technology, seeds selection and use of quality varieties/certified seeds, crop nutrition, crop protection and spray service provision. NPCK CEO, Mr. Wachira Kaguongo participated in the event and trained farmers on adoption of Apical rooted cuttings as part of the solution to shortage of clean seed the country. He also informed famers on Viazi soko and its ongoing upgrades.
During the trainings, COVID-19 preventive measures such as social distancing, wearing of masks, sanitization and temperature check using thermo guns were observed. The trainings took place in 3 sessions in groups of 30 to avoid overcrowding in line with the Ministry of Health guidelines. The training was attended by a total of 91 participants.
