A county potato strategy is an essential document that helps in harmonizing all the value chain player activities, giving a clear road map on how to address the subsector challenges and constraints as well as taking advantage of new opportunities in the subsector.

The county potato strategy is customized from the national potato strategy to fit each county’s uniqueness by leveraging on its strengths and addressing its challenges.

Bungoma, being one of the major potato producing counties is in the final stages of developing its potato strategy. It is doing so in collaboration with other partners including CIP, GIZ and NPCK.

Recently, the partners convened a meeting in Bungoma town in order to sensitize the County Assembly’s Agricultural Committee members on the draft Bungoma County Potato Strategy. This step is vital in order to have proper legislative and budgetary support from the County assembly.

The members of the assembly were taken through the document’s content, its importance and their role as county assembly in successful implementation of the document.

The county assembly committed to support its implementation by allocating necessary funds and passing any other necessary laws and bills. This support by the assembly paves way for the official launch of the document.
